‘Touring’ and ‘Healthy Diet’ – Yes, it is possible!

We all know the importance of a healthy diet and the benefit this brings to not only our body, but mind and soul as well.

While on tour in your caravan it is easy to maintain a healthy diet, and it can be a lot of fun too! It just takes a little imagination, the right attitude…and a couple of fishing rods!

With an energy efficient fridge and freezer, even those of you who like to go ‘bush’ have no excuse for not enjoying your meat and three veg at dinner time. And while touring this beautiful country of ours, you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to in-season fruit and vegetables in the towns you visit.

As we generally put more thought into what we are going to have for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the bigger meals can be easier to plan and manage when it comes to healthy eating, but is essential not to forget about having healthy snacks to eat while on the road. Ensuring you prepare for the munchies while on the road will help stop those urges to buy junk food at the servo or swing through the McDonalds drive-through.

Stuck for healthy snack ideas?

Keep a supply of nuts on board, some yoghurt and fruit, or rice cakes with your favourite dip goes down a treat as well. Need something a bit sweeter? We love to make a batch of protein balls to indulge in when the need arises. Grab one of these great recipes from Taste.com.au: https://www.taste.com.au/recipes/collections/healthy-protein-balls

Our best tip for sticking to a healthy diet while on the road is to make sure it stays fun and you enjoy taking care of your body. Make sure you have a BBQ on-board so you can sit outside and enjoy a cold beer or glass of wine while grilling fish, lean meats, and some char-grilled corn and veggies on the side too.
